Loren Ridinger – Fall fashion: a runway review

When we last explored the trends as dictated by the designers that showed on the spring runways, the summer heat was on and fashion was following suit. Now, in the face of fall, we look to embrace new opportunities for dressing in differing color palettes and draping ourselves in rich, and heavier fabrics. From regal shades of purple to bold polka dots to exotic skins, fall calls in the most brazen troops, to boldly go forward in the name of fashion. And accessories have gone similarly bold; structured, boxy handbags top off any ensemble with an “I mean business” sensibility.

Your Royal Highness

Regal shades of purple stomped down the fall runways in an effort to make women feel nothing short of royal. Perhaps this was born in the aftermath of the recent nuptials of H.R.H Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, or perhaps not, but in any event we embrace the opportunity to dress in this shade fit for a queen.

Spotted

Polka dots have been a cyclical trend for decades, coming and going time and time again. It seems this season we’ve once again earned our spots. Designers were delivering everything from floor length gowns to small, add-on accessories, all covered in dots.

Rough Exterior

Exotic skins always offer an air of richness to any ensemble, and this fall there are a myriad ways to embrace said richness. From crocodile skirts to shoes and handbags you’re free to be as daring as you wish. Even the male set is invited to partake in the trend with electronics covers and dopp kits crafted from the same, sleek materials

Appropriately Structured

In the wake of season after season of slouchy hobos, we look to the structured bag to give us a new and somewhat neater aesthetic. Fashion houses are pulling back on the urge to create messy chic, and taking a decided glance back to the days when a polished lady always wore a structured, top-handle top. A refreshing change, we think.
