Ambassador: Live, Laugh, & Love Lea’s World

Well all, I’m back from another whirlwind trip to New York – the weather in was amazing, still a hint of summer lingering before the coming of fall’s dreariness. It’s really the best time to be in New York! There is so much energy and excitement especially during Fashion Week. I was fortunate to attend some of the fashion shows, as well as a few after-parties. It’s always wonderful to experience the fashion culture of The Big Apple and socialize with the amazing and talented artists that are so much a part of the presentations.

Speaking of talented, I also spent time with my good friend, top makeup expert Edward Cruz. I am happy to report that Edward will be sharing his fantastic insight every week in my Haute Living blog and on my monthly Ambassador page. I am so excited and truly blessed to have him on my team. Edward recently covered Fashion Week and has shared some of the latest trends from the top fashion houses.

Here is his recap of what we will be seeing come this Spring/Summer 2014: Fashion Week is always a good way to measure what new trends you will be wearing and seeing on New York City streets this fall and spring. For next spring the rule is CLEAN. Soft and flexible is the look, which is something universal for any woman to pull of at any occasion, event or time of day. Another notable trend among most designers is the use of cheerful lip color.  Oscar de la Renta worked with buffed out skin and soft apricots were used on the cheeks and lips. Ralph Lauren featured flushed pink cheeks and lips. Vogue notable newcomer Harbison featured thick brows and a bright popsicle lip. Prepare your makeup bags accordingly! Before leaving New York, I did a show taping for the Better Show and had meetings with some wonderful fashion and beauty editors to present my new beauty and handbag collections. All in all, it was a great success..I am so thrilled

Back in Miami, things have been very busy, both personally and professionally. Where do I start? First and foremost, I want to congratulate my BFF Lance Bass on his engagement to his partner, Michael Turchin. They both mean so much to me and I wish them happiness, love and laughter for many years to come. P.S.- Lance loves Lea Black Beauty!

Speaking of fashion, I can’t get enough of The Webster on Miami Beach…I love their clothes and accessories they are so chic and different and so beautiful. And did you see the fashion, jewelry and handbags  at The EMMYS? I had the unique experience to comment on the jewels as part of E! Online Live from the Red Carpet coverage. I was asked to share my thoughts on Sofia Vergara and her $7 million worth of jewels, the giant rings on like Zooey Deschanel, Sofia and Allison Williams, Carrie Underwood’s diamond necklace, Padma Lakshmi’s golden cuff and Anna Farris’ serpent pendant (on the back of her dress!). As for the handbags, I also have a new contributor on my fashion team, Chad Tucker, based in NYC who covers fashion from head to toe and shared his insights with me on what he viewed as the return of the evening bag…which I love!  Never had he seen this accessory so celebrated and featured in so many photo ops.  Let me share his comments:

“Usually, the star’s handler is holding the evening bag for the night, the bag never seeing the flash of the camera. This year, the emphasis IS the evening bag and many starlets left their handlers not knowing what to do now that they were no longer holding the bag.”

“Shapes and finishes are why the evening bag made such a statement, impact and return. Stylist held back this year on the usual “more is more” diamond rule by replacing sparkly bracelets with gorgeous, shiny, evening bags. Maybe the Art Deco influence from the TV show Boardwalk Empire or the movie The Great Gatsby inspired the evening bags to be deco shapes, colors, and finishes.” Check out my new collection of after five handbags at leablackhandbags.com. Wishing everyone a great fall season!
