And there are so many interesting hotels, you might want to choose more than one. Start with a city adventure in Berlin and then relax at a castle hotel in verdant Bavaria.

The Grand Hyatt Berlin is centrally located and boasts modern all-white design, or head to the Schlosshotel im Grunewald AlmaBerlin, which has a soaring old world lobby paired with a modern spa and even suites designed by Karl Lagerfeld. Germany may not be at the top of everyone’s list when they think of food, Germany has more Michelin-starred restaurants than you would imagine—282 starred dining destinations, including 11 with three coveted stars. Try visiting the flagships of German brands Escada, Tom Tailor, Hugo Boss, or Mykita, which makes some of the best eyewear. Check out the Mercedes-Benz classic store where you can find German-designed goods from the famous automobile maker. Of course, you could push it a bit further and take delivery of one of their famous car badges and take it for a spin on the famous authobahn, where there are many stretches with no speed limits.

Whether it is an art-laden urban experience you seek, fresh air, history or natural springs, Germany has it all.
