Haute 100: Did You Know The Tesla Model S Can Float?

If you ever wanted a vehicle that could double as a boat in case of a flood, well Haute 100 lister Elon Musk has you covered. On Sunday, Musk revealed his Tesla Model S can float well enough to turn into a boat.

In a series of tweets, the Silicon Valley tycoon revealed, the “Model S floats well enough to turn it into a boat for short periods of time.” The rotating tires can provide thrust. If you cannot believe your eyes, as proof Musk posted a video showing a Model S swimming through a flooded underpass in Russia.

Must followed up, with another tweet letting the world know he has plans to build a sub that can hit the road as well. He wrote, “If curious abt TSWLM car, am still planning to do a sports sub car that can drive on roads. Just a side project. Limited market potential :)”

The South African born business magnate warned the company doesn’t recommend Tesla drivers test the buoyancy of their cars.

If you are unfamiliar the Model S, the vehicle “is designed from the ground up to be the safest, most exhilarating sedan on the road. New features electric car aficionados can expect are full LED adaptive headlamps. There will be 14 three-position LED dynamic turning lights to help improve visibility at night, especially on winding roads. Also added, a Medical grade HEPA air filtration system, which removes at least 99.97% of particulate exhaust pollution and effectively all allergens, bacteria and other contaminants from cabin air.
