San Francisco isn’t a city known for its club scene. However, it does have a lively music industry with hot spots like The Fillmore, Bimbo’s 365, and The Independent regularly selling out shows. Come Spring 2018, a new, highly-anticipated destination will open its doors in downtown SF, near Union Square in the old Ruby Sky nightclub space. August Hall will be a live music and special event venue from Bay Area natives Nate Valentine, Scott Murphy, Justin Roja, and Chad Donnelly.
The team is also developing a second project, Fifth Arrow (downstairs in the space that formerly housed nightclub Slide), that will open at the same time as August Hall. Fifth Arrow will be a cocktail, dining, and gaming parlor with three bowling lanes. “We have had the privilege of growing up in an area filled with creativity, character, and acceptance of all walks of life,” Murphy said in a statement. “Having August Hall and Fifth Arrow located in the epicenter of Union Square affords us a forum and space to unite guests from near and far through live music and entertainment, while showcasing the best of the city we know and love. Simply put, August Hall and Fifth Arrow are the realization of a dream come true.”

August Hall’s programming will be created by Live Nation, the world’s leading live entertainment company, with concerts for up to 750 guests and dance events hosting up to 1,000 people. The space is named after the architect, August Headman, who originally crafted the building in the 1890s; the hall’s modern design will accentuate Headman’s architectural elements.
State-of-the-art technology will be featured throughout August Hall with a sound system by D&B Audiotechnik. Britt Hull of Tide Design Co. and Parisa O’Connell Interior Design and decorating the space to be both classic and modern with a theater-style stage and expansive main floor, wrap-around grand mezzanine, and open balcony. August Hall will have semi-private viewing areas, three full bars, and food service. The team hopes that August Hall and its sister spot, Fifth Arrow, will become an entertainment landmark in San Francisco.
