Shop For The Holidays This Weekend Big Papi Style

The holiday season is in full swing, but if you haven’t yet hit the malls or found the perfect gift for that special someone in your life, have no fear – David Ortiz is here to help make the season a little brighter.

Thanks to The David Ortiz Children’s Fund, Big Papi has created an online auction to help fulfill that wish list, but will also give back to you in the true spirit of giving fashion. Now through December 15, you can bid on sports memorabilia and travel experiences with all of the proceeds benefiting The David Ortiz Children’s Fund, Big Papi’s nonprofit organization that provides lifesaving heart surgeries and care for children with congenital heart defects in New England and his native Dominican Republic through partnerships with MassGeneral Hospital for Children and the World Pediatric Project.

You can sign up to bid on some of these haute auction items or simply make a donation of $500 that provides one of these lifesaving surgeries at CEDIMAT Hospital in Santo Domingo, where 678 children have been saved to-date, thanks to the works of the David Ortiz Children’s Fund.

The auction ledger includes the following:

  • Two Premium Economy tickets on Virgin Atlantic to London or Manchester: You can be the lucky winner of two round-trip, positive-space Premium Economy Class tickets on Virgin Atlantic Airways’ award-winning, non-stop service from any U.S. gateway to London or Manchester, England. An upgrade and access to the Clubhouse will be granted on availability basis.
  • Albert Pujols Signed Bat: Throughout his 17-year career, Albert Pujols has earned his spot among baseball’s best hitters of all time. A three-time MVP and 10-time All Star, Albert led the Cardinals to two World Series championships during his time in St. Louis. During the 2014 season, Albert became the 26th member of the 500-career homerun club. This bat is signed by the MLB legend.
  • Cabin for Two on the New Kids on the Block Cruise: New Kids on the Block is one of the most famous boy bands of all time, and most especially in Boston, but you already discovered that when we chatted with Jordan Knight. Next October 18-22,  they are returning for their tenth cruise from Miami to Halfmoon Cay and Nassau.
  • Carlton Fisk Framed Signed Jersey: Red Sox legend and Hall of Famer, Carlton Fisk, is one of the best catchers in MLB history. He was named Rookie of the Year in 1972 and was selected to 11 All-Star games. This jersey has been personally autographed by Carlton Fisk with the inscription “HOF 2000.” The framed jersey comes double matted in a black wood fame, has two photos, and has two laser cut team logos.
  • Everett Design Coin Pendant & Chain: Coin pendant and chain donated from Everett Design of Casa de Campo detailing a shipwreck called the Concepcion that sank off the north coast of the Dominican Republic in 1641.  It was rediscovered in the late 1970s by the American treasure hunter Burt Weber.
  • Buster Posey Signed Baseball: Buster Posey is one of the top players in the game, helping lead the San Francisco Giants to three World Series championships and helping Team USA defeat Puerto Rico in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. He has many accomplishments throughout his career, including five All-Star appearances and NL Rookie of the Year in 2010.

The David Ortiz Children’s Fund has currently netted approximately $3 million, and in 2011, David Ortiz was awarded the Roberto Clemente Award by Major League Baseball for his work with the David Ortiz Children’s Fund.
