Miami’s young influencers and art supporters, Matthew Chevallard (founder of Del Toro) and Daniel Berkowitz have embarked on their newest project, The Office. Launching its second exhibition on March 23rd, 2018, The Office will debut the works of Matt McCormick and Thrush Holmes at the Edgewater-based gallery.
The exposition will bring together two different but complementary artists, with Thrush hailing from Canada and McCormick from Los Angeles. Chevallard and Berkowitz are thrilled to debut the two together at The Office.
“As a passionate collector and from constantly being asked by friends to help with art, I teamed up with my close friend Danny who is also a young collector to start a platform/collective for introducing artists to friends and family. The Office presents emerging artists that I believe in and have collected personally,” said Mathew Chevallard.
Thrush Holmes will present its typical diverse compositions in the form of several disciplines ranging from abstract painting to photographic-based mixed media. Experimentation plays a big part in the creative process, therefore he works mostly on panel when he paints as opposed to canvas. “This allows me to scrape off the loss and reclaim the substrate for a new life,” he explains. Subject matters range from still life, nudes and landscapes. Thrush enjoys transforming something primarily viewed as ordinary and common to something seductive and unusual.
Meanwhile, LA-based McCormick is a multimedia artist who draws upon the American West and its associated imagery to realize an artistic vision that is as unique and dynamic as the topography itself. The artist embraces gritty aspects as equally formative to the Golden State as the homestead towns, gold rush bonanzas and 1920s Hollywood glamour that captivate the popular imagination. McCormick’s art embodies the true spirit of California, replete with renegades, risk takers and outlaws, each uniquely rendered with formal restraint and austerity.
The exclusive opening party will take place on Friday, March, 23rd from 7-10 p.m. at The Office.
