Arguably the best chef in the United States, Thomas Keller has taught generations of chefs how to cook. Acclaimed chefs like René Redzepi, Grant Achatz, Richard Blais, and Corey Lee studied under Keller at The French Laundry before going on to open their own award-winning restaurants. Along with Daniel Boulud, Keller trains the Americans who compete in the International culinary competition, the Bocuse d’Or. In 2017, his team won the event, which is held every two years in Lyon. Keller is clearly a natural teacher and yet he’s never had a cooking show. Until now.

Keller has launched a class on MasterClass, the San Francisco-based online education platform where students gain access to seminars taught by leaders in their field and industry experts. It’s Keller’s first ever online-course and features 36 lessons. “My MasterClass is the perfect way to master the fundamental techniques of cooking,” Keller told Haute Living by email. “I want students to have the necessary tools and develop the skills to challenge themselves in the kitchen. Remember, be patient but persistent.”

In the series of seminars, Keller teaches techniques for selecting and handing kitchen tools, ingredient preservation, and the importance of foundational ingredients like vegetables, eggs, and pasta. Check out the mouth-watering trailer to his series below.
