HB:  What a Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both.

HB: How does eyelid surgery work?

Loose or sagging skin that creates excess folds in upper eyelid is surgically removed to give the eyelid a more rejuvenated and youthful appearance.  Excess fatty deposits that create puffiness in upper or lower eyelids can also be removed.

HB: Who is the best candidate for this procedure?

The best candidate for the procedure is a healthy adult male or female who has signs of eyelid aging (excess eyelid skin folds, protruding fat pads or “bags” and/or excess skin and wrinkles in the lower eyelids).

HB: How does this treatment compare to others of the same nature?

Surgical blepharoplasty is the gold standard for rejuvenating the eyelid area.  Other procedures like CO2 laser resurfacing or other laser treatments try to stimulate collagen to improve the appearance of aging skin, but the results are not as dramatic as surgical blepharoplasty

HB: What does recovery look like?

Recovery for blepharoplasty is usually simple.  We recommend two weeks of no heavy lifting or exercise.  Sutures (stitches) get removed at one week from surgery.  Pain is usually minimal to none, and bruising is generally minimal which will generally resolve by one week.
