Dr. Robert Vitolo is heavily acknowledged by his peers and patients for being the pioneer of breakthrough procedures, specifically: no-visible-scar breast augmentations, endoscopic facelifts and external ultrasonic-assisted liposculpture. To get the inside scoop on his successes, Haute Beauty sat down with Dr. Vitolo to discuss it all. Here's what he had to say:
My greatest achievement:
Being able to transform the way I do most cosmetic surgeries with Scar Less techniques. Traditionally breast enlargements, lifts, face and brow lifts have been done through incisions that leave visible scars and have a long post-operative healing time.
With my Scar Less breast enlargement technique, the implants are inserted through a one-half-inch incision in the belly button and are passed up to the breasts in the fat layer under the skin so there is no damage to the inner abdominal structures. The procedure usually takes less than 30 minutes, the umbilical scar is virtually invisible, and most patients are able to return to work in a day or two. I have also perfected my Scar Less technique for face and brow lifts, eyelid fat removal and rhinoplasties.

The biggest misconception about my field is...
In the past, the thought was that cosmetic surgery was for “vain” and wealthy people. That is no longer the stigma of cosmetic surgery. A procedure like rhinoplasty, breast augmentations, facelifts are many times, life-changing procedures. A person with a nose that is out of proportion with their face will often experience a new lease on life. An aging patient can now look ten years younger in a few days.
My most requested procedures:
Because of the Scar Less orientation of my practice, the Scar Less breast enlargement (TUBA) is one of my most requested procedures. Scar Less brow and facelifts as well as Scar Less eyelid fat removal and internal rhinoplasty (without any visible scar on the nose) are also in high demand.
What surgical advancement are you most excited about?
Face and whole limb transplants that will allow badly disfigured and maimed patients to get a new lease on life.
What are you best known for?
The Scar Less Procedures: Breast enlargement, brow and face lifts, eyelid and rhinoplasties, external ultrasonic-assisted liposculpture (EUAL), buttock sculpting.
What is your most memorable patient reaction?
A rhinoplasty that I performed on a very young girl with a huge terrible nose. Her parents told me that “The procedure changed the course of her life forever.”
What sets my practice apart?
I have a “Boutique” cosmetic surgery practice. I strive for excellence for each patient not the quantity of patient procedures. I am the only doctor in the practice. I learned a long time ago that if you want something done to your exacting standards, “you have to do it yourself."
Patients come to see me often based on a referral from a previous patient and my reputation. They want to see ME! Not an associate doctor, not a PA, or a nurse. I owe it to my patients to give them my personal attention.
I have a wonderful caring support staff that embodies my treatment of patients. Alexis and Ida, my patient coordinators, Scott, the Practice Manager and RN’s and MD anesthesiologists all strive to make each patient's experience memorable.
From a Botox or filler injection to the most demanding surgery I am the one that will do it. Every stitch that I put in; I will take out. I personally see each patient at the post-operative visits. Why do I do this? I am responsible for each patient’s wellbeing and result and when something is out of your hands. The result can be less than perfect.
For the convenience of our patients, all my surgeries are performed in my own certified surgical facility. My patients don’t have to go to a hospital facility and be mixed with many strangers. This is particularly important in this time of Covid 19. I operate with the assistance of the same anesthesiologist, RNs, techs and support staff. Everyone is on the same page with the same work ethic.
The end result is a safe, satisfied patient who has had a memorable experience with Dr. Vitolo.
