Christmas Day is made even better when celebrated at a luxe spot like the Ritz-Carlton. This year, they are offering a brunch buffet from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. along with an a la carte dinner menu from 5 to 10 p.m. Brunch offerings include everything from smoked salmon, pecan smoked bacon, chicken apple sausage and blueberry pancakes to salads, cheese and charcuterie along with a roast prime rib and honey glazed ham carving stations. Be sure to save room for a sweet treat like the peppermint cocoa torte or spiked egg nog panna cotta. Reservations are recommended.

Aura is rolling out the red carpet for a brunch celebration from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. complete with a visit from Santa himself. The menu here features eggs Benedict, leek and truffle quiche, New England clam chowder, roast sirloin with red wine and currants, honey ham with Bourbon maple glaze and pan roasted salmon with creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese and braised green beans. Kids will have fun finishing off their meal with a sampling from the chocolate fountain.

Located high atop the 52nd floor of the Prudential Center, dinner here includes one of the best views of Christmas in the city. This year, they are serving up a four course prix-fixe Christmas Eve Menu on from 4 to 8 p.m. featuring dishes like lobster gnocchi, steak tartare, roasted duck breast and pan seared scallops served with a side of entertainment in the restaurant’s lounge provided by The Liz Tobias Trio.

If you are looking to celebrate a Provencal Christmas Eve with a haute brunch, head to Bistro du Midi from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. or dinner, which is being served from 5 to 9 p.m. (The restaurant is closed on Christmas). Request a window table overlooking the Public Garden and enjoy a special holiday prix fixe dinner celebration that features everything from scallop crudo, venison tartare and Spanish octopus to a cassoulet of lamb, Maine lobster tortellini and rack of lamb.

Fleming’s in Back Bay recently unveiled its holiday menu featuring a “Surf & Turf” three-course menu complete with an eight-ounce filet mignon paired with an Australian lobster tail. Also, on Christmas Eve, they have a fun brunch offering from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (The regular menu is also available all day). Think Fleming’s signature eggs Benedict with sliced filet mignon or housemade crab cake with a tomato-hollandaise, cinnamon apple brioche French toast, and porcini-crusted filet mignon.

Mandarin Oriental, Boston

If you prefer to stay at home, why not leave all the cooking to the chefs at Mandarin Oriental for a super haute dinner? Available on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Chef Daniel Burger has prepared a Christmas Feast to Go that includes all of the trimmings prepared, packaged and ready for pick-up. Each package, which serves up to six guests comes complete with a choice of honey-glazed ham, roasted prime rib or an herb-grilled salmon fillet, a fresh kale salad served with shaved Brussels sprouts, toasted cashews, port-poached cranberries and an orange vinaigrette; butternut squash soup blended with warm spices and a dollop of crème fraîche; as well as a choice of: roasted baby carrots or brown butter turnips; and a choice of: mashed sweet potatoes layered with crisp meringue and toasted pecans or herb-roasted fingerling potatoes.
