New England Patriots Sign Pittsburgh Linebacker James Harrison

As the saying goes, when one door closes, another one opens. Just ask James Harrison, the newest addition to the New England Patriots team of champs, who recently departed the Pittsburgh Steelers under much scrutiny and apparent bad blood. Their loss is our gain as the two-time Super Bowl champ will help Tom BradyPatrick Chung and teammates vie for our third Super Bowl win in four years.

The defending Super Bowl championship team (yes, we like to brag here) inked a one-year deal with the 39-year-old veteran player on Tuesday, who was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers last week after only playing five games this season. Harrison seems not only excited about the opportunity to join the Pats, but to join a roster where he is not the oldest player. He recently posted the below photo on Instagram with the caption, “”Finally… A teammate that’s older than me!?? @tombrady.”

Harrison comes to Boston after 14 years playing in Pittsburgh. Our new Number 92 was wished well by Pittsburgh’s Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who said, “I have been blessed to play with one of the best guys, defensive football players, a friend, for a long time. We’ve played in a lot of games together, the biggest games. He has made one of the biggest plays in Super Bowl History and it has truly been an honor to call him a friend and a teammate and I’ll miss him. I’ve only had to go against him when he was in Cincinnati. It won’t be the same in here without him, especially because he was the oldest and now I am the oldest. I count my blessing for all of time I got to share with him.”

With the loss of Dont’a Hightower, who went out for the season with a torn pectoral muscle, Patriots Nation is hoping Harrison will bring the team to yet another victory (and ring) this season. We’ll certainly be watching New Year’s Eve when they play against the Jets.

Welcome to the City of Champions, James.
