HB: What are jawline Fillers?

Jawline fillers are popular amongst men and women. Celebrities including Angelina Jolie and Olivia Culpo have inspired women on the importance of a chiseled jawline! We use only safe reversible hyaluronic acid based products in our clinic, which are the synthetic versions of what naturally appear in your body. These usually tend to last anywhere from 12 months to 16 months.

HB: Who is a good candidate?

Men and women with weaker jawlines are the perfect candidate!  Women and men alike like having a strong contoured jawline as it is an indication of youth and strength. As we age, we loose some of the bone in our mandible and the fat in our subcutaneous tissues.   Contouring the jawline can help give a youthful look for both men and women.  And for younger patients who don’t naturally have a strong jawline, subtle contouring can tremendously help with the lower vector of the face to become more defined and sculpted.

HB: How does the procedure work?

The procedure works by using a cannula, which is a blunt needle (painless!) to slowly layer the hyaluronic acid filler within, on top of, and underneath the muscles of the jawline. The cannula reduces pain, reduces the risk of bleeding, swelling and bruising! The entire procedure lasts around 10-15 minutes.

HB: Do you prefer it to other methods?

We prefer using hyaluronic acid based products because they can be dissolved, unlike the semi-permanent, and permanent products on the market. If you get any issue with your hyaluronic acid fillers they can be quickly dissolved. With semi-permanent fillers, the problems also last semi-permanently.  We never recommend Sculptra or Radiesse to be injected into the face.

HB: What does the recovery look like?

No real downtime. With the method that I use most patients are able to walk out of the office and go straight to lunch or dinner with no tell-tale signs of a procedure having been performed.   There is of course always a small risk of swelling and minimal bruising, but those are very rare, especially in the jawline, when done softly with a cannula technique.
