The gold standard for eye rejuvenation has always been surgery, with the upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty. There are, however, non-invasive options can also help patients who are not ready for surgery. Dr. Mehta discusses these options offered at his practice near Washington, D.C.

What are the Non-Invasive Options for Eye Rejuvenation?

The underlying principles of non-invasive eye rejuvenation are: relax, resurface, refill.

RELAX

Botox has been around for many years, but newer refined techniques with this or other neuromodulators can give the eyes a nice lift by relaxing wrinkle-causing muscles. Neuromodulators injected around the eyes, brows, and forehead can treat crow’s feet, vertical glabellar lines in between the brows, and horizontal forehead lines. We can also inject around the brows to give a nice brow lift! But beware of injections by non-medical professionals! Too much to the forehead or near the eyes can actually cause drooping!

The typical cost ranges from $150 to $800 depending on the neuromodulator and amount used.

Resurfacing the skin around the eyes improves collagen and elastin, thereby tightening the skin and reducing wrinkles. Skin resurfacing can also improve skin tone and texture, usually with minimal downtime. Options for resurfacing around the eyes include Chemical Peels, microneedling, and light or laser therapy. The goal of all of these techniques is to create tiny wounds to stimulate your skin to build new collagen and elastin as it heals itself.

The typical cost ranges from $250 for a single chemical peel to $2000 for a full facial laser resurfacing.

REFILL

As we age, our face begins to lose volume. You can get hollowing in the upper and lower eyelids. Using fillers like Restylane or Juvederm with the utmost precision, we can restore volume to areas that have lost their definition over years. Fillers around the eyes can also help soften and reduce dark circles, making you look more refreshed and rejuvenated!

The typical cost ranges from $600-$1500 depending on how much filler is used.

All of these are great options for non-surgical eye rejuvenation. As always, it’s best to consult with your Oculofacial Plastics expert to determine the best options for you. Depending on your goals, medical history, sand dermatologic history, Dr. Mehta can create a personalized plan with some or all of these options!
