Haute Beauty expert Dr. Amy Lewis discusses reasons that cause hair loss while suggesting non-invasive treatments that help hair growth.

I love my hair and who doesn’t? How many of us have loved ones and friends who are suffering from either pattern balding or thinning hair? Yikes, and yes, pandemic-related stress is on the list of yet another cause of hair loss.

By age 50, over half of the men and a quarter of women experience some male/female pattern hair loss. Another common hair loss we see in our office is an autoimmune condition called alopecia areata, creating coin-shaped patches of balding on the scalp. The most common presentation of hair loss is actually due to telegenic effluvium hair shedding. This occurs after psychological or physical events such as childbirth, job change, divorce, major moves, etc. Joining the list of causes is COVID, which has greatly increased the condition, and added undue anxiety. We see this in women in their 20s!

At Lewis Dermatology and Associates, we offer numerous non-invasive and/or minimally invasive treatments to repair hair follicles, and grow and strengthen hair. The treatments include:

● Oral hair growth supplements for natural hair growth.
● Our custom-made topical serum, Hair Rx Complex (a proprietary blend including finasteride, minoxidil, biotin, and more) can regrow hair, increase hair retention and hair weight.
PRP Therapy, minimally invasive injections of your own platelet-rich plasma to regenerate your hair follicles, and help hair growth.

I was a clinical investigator working with different cutting edge serums that can be used to increase hair growth and density. Here is one example of results after four months of using our topical Hair Rx Complex:

The psychological duress and the anxiety are real consequences of hair loss, and it’s worth addressing for overall health and well-being.

I’m grateful hair loss is not a consequence of my own day-to-day stress. If you follow @lewisdermatology on Instagram, you can see that my hair is one of my trademarks!
